The Gloom - Week 23

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, April 25 2008 at 8:26 am

I know I know, we let you down last week. But New York Comicon mixed with no wifi access that our laptop could get mixed with a dozen different problems left us in the air, and you bereft of your weekly dose of The Gloom.

But fear not, as we have a double sized extravaganza for you now! four whole pages of Gloom goodness just for you. Enjoy, and accept our most deepest apologies…

The Gloom - Week 22

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, April 11 2008 at 4:45 am

Ah, children - did you think we would make you wait longer? How could we! We love you! So here, in all it’s glory is the super sized, bumper edition of the never seen before pages that continue The Gloom from issue #3!

Carson Kane is shot, believed dead, fallen from a great height. I mean, honestly - he’s pretty screwed. And that’s where we left you last month…

In side news, Dan and I have both been nominated in the 2008 Eagle Awards for our comic Hope Falls, while I’ve been nominated as Best Newcomer Writer - I’d be remiss if I didn;t beg you like a cheap street walker to go over and vote for us in Best New Comic…

Secondly I’m at the New York Comic Con next week, so the next issue is possibly going to be late dependant on wifi connections and suchlike, but it should all be fine. If you’re there, come by and say hi at the Markosia booth and then walk over to the Ardden Entertainment booth and demand a The Gloom Hardcover from Richard Emms. If enough people beg, there’s a strong chance that we’ll have it out by the end of the year…

I’m also at The Comic Book Club on Tuesday night in NYC, and I’m on a panel with Andy Schmidt on the Friday evening at 7pm. Come see me, come say hi. And buy me a drink… Oh and LEAVE US A COMMENT!!!

And without further adieu… The SEASON THREE EXTENDED LENGTH PREMIERE!!!!!!

Okay, four pages of comic…

The Gloom - Week 21

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, March 21 2008 at 6:27 am

And so the second issue of The Gloom comes to a violent and sudden end with this three page season finale!

And with this comes the last ever publicly viewed pages, as in 2005 The Gloom was cancelled after this issue, even though we had already finished issue #3…

And as we did with the break between issues #1 and #2, we’re going to take a break for a couple of weeks, still with updates - and the next issue will begin with the cover teaser in three weeks, on the 11th April. That said, there might be a delay the following week as I’ll be in New York for the New York Comic Con, and if I can’t get online in time, someone else may have to put it up for me, so it might arrive late. But arrive it will! And we’ve got original letterer Rich Emms lettering issue #4, and Dan’s currently finishing the colouring of issue #5. And more excitingly, there’s talk of a hardback collected edition of The Gloom finally hitting the stores in late 2008…

But until then, have a good Easter and enjoy these climactic pages…

The Gloom - Week 20

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, March 14 2008 at 5:23 am

And so we hit the penultimate episode of The Gloom - and we’re almost at the end of the ‘viewed’ episodes before the ’season’ break!

What does ‘viewed’ episodes mean? Well, it means that in April, when issue #3 starts to be serialised, we will for the first time be showing never seen before pages! The Gloom lasted two issues before APC folded, and issue #3 was never released. But now, children - now you will start to see the joy that is indeed The Gloom!

But before then we have two more weeks, this week’s instalment which has the revelation of a devious plan, and next week’s three page season finale with a cliffhanger guaranteed to split the Internet in half! Again!

So settle back, lock and load and pour yourself a cold one. And if you’re in the London area next Tuesday (18th), feel free to pop by to the Hope Falls wrap party at the Fitzrovia Pub, Goodge Street from 8pm…

On with the show.

The Gloom - Week 19

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, March 7 2008 at 4:57 am

More Gloomy goodness today readers! And the Nazis don’t know what they’re messing with!

And, for fans of myself and Dan who live in the London area, we’ll be holding a Wrap Up drink to celebrate the end of Hope Falls, our current exciting series at The Fitzrovia Pub on the 18th March. If you’re around, feel free to click on the link or even drop in. I’ll also have special guests Pia Guerra and Ian Boothby there as Pia and I are doing a photoshoot that day at the Doctor Who exhibition in Earls Court, and also Sam Hart is over from Brazil, so expect some Robin Hood news from us, as we have a meeting with out publisher that day, too!

And for those who miss me in London, I will be at the New York Comic Con in April, starting the week as a guest on stage at the People’s Improv Theatre, 154 West 29th Street, NYC on Tuesday 15th April for a special, transatlantic edition of The Comic Book Club. Tickets are $5, so come see me be suave and debonair - or at least come see me make a fool of myself on stage.

And keep close attention to my weekly column, He’s Only A Writer at Comics Bulletin - for this coming Monday, we shall announce the results of the nom nom nominations for the 2008 Golden Champagne Glass Awards

Anyway! Enough about me! On with the show!

And so we’re halfway through the second issue of The Gloom and the story starts to gain pace, as the evil Vermillion and his Nazi cohorts… Well, do something nasty!

As ever, comment and let us know what you think… And enjoy this week’s installment!

The Gloom - Week 17

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, February 22 2008 at 4:52 am

A quick one this week, as I’m about to shoot off to the slopes for a long weekend skiing.

Once more, thank you for the comments, but we want more love, dammit!

Also, we’ve been ‘nominated’ on the Eagle Awards for ‘Favourite Web-Based Comic’ - these are the nominations to be nominated - everyone posts what they want to see and then at the end of the week, the top five voted for nominations will be put into the next round and that’s when the industry professionals start to vote. So vote for The Gloom and make the Chemistry Set proud!

(and of course, vote for Hope Falls, Midnight Kiss, me and Dan everywhere else we’re mentioned!)

Right. Enough pimping. On with the comic.

The Gloom - Week 16

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, February 15 2008 at 6:12 am

Has it been a week already, my little chickadees? Quite possibly, the days have merged together here in the highest tower of Castle Bastard. But, unshaven, blearily eyed and twitching like an inmate with tourettes strapped to a lighting circuit, I appear, with two more pages of Gloom goodness for you.

I’d like to thank the three or so people who commented last week - your comments made us happy. Of course, it also made us concerned that our comic is being read by three or so people - which of course is a little worrying. So, if you didn’t comment last week, comment this week! Make Daddy happy.

Right then, we left the Gloom and the Professor caught by a sodden Mousey Blonde - but meanwhile, elsewhere in Manhattan…
