No interview today; the holiday season has certainly slowed me down (with no small help from this cold, I’ve got to admit; though Leland seems to think that my original cold has gone and another has taken its place). But for those of you out there who meticulously listen to every commentary on the DVD, I thought I’d post these:
Bet you didn’t think Marcos was a real person, right? It gets crazier: his name really is Marcos. This is Marcos Mota, my friend and co-worker from Community Connect. When I asked him if he would sit for some reference shots, he graciously agreed, even after I explained that some not-so-nice things would happen to his webcomic counterpart. Because gracious is the kind of guy that Marcos is.
(”I can’t believe you actually named your guy Marcos,” Leland said.
“Well, what else would I call him?” I replied. “That’s his name.”
I get stuck on names.)
Speaking of the day job, I’m thrilled to report that in mid-January I will be bagging the engineering for good in favor of this crazy little thing called writing full-time. Wish me luck. (And hey, if you need anything written… *grin*)

You’ll get none of my witty banter today because I’m as sick as a dog. However, you may get Solstice kisses if you lean in real close to the screen. Oh, wait… I’m sick as a dog…
You can catch chapter 1 here and the beginning of this current tale here.

Happy Holidays, everyone. Much thanks and love, too, for reading our stuff and all the support I’ve receieved in emails and comments. *Mwah!*

So it’s the Sunday after Thanksgiving and you’ve had your fill of leftovers. You hate football. You’re stuffed and bored. What next?
If you’re in NYC, head on down to KGB Bar, where I will attempt to read SCHEHERAZADE out loud, live and in person:

Start: Nov 26 2006 - 7:41pm
End: Nov 26 2006 - 9:00pm
Dan Goldman will be reading from “Kelly”, which is currently being serialized on ACT-I-VATE. “Kelly” is a romance comic dressed up as a psychedelic Craigslist roommate thriller.
Elizabeth Genco will be reading from her story about stories, “Scheherazade.”
Nick Bertozzi will be reading from the upcoming work about Picasso, Braque, the art world of France in the 20s, “The Salon”.
Margo Dabaie will be reading from her work about growing up Palestinian Christian in America.
Given that I’ve never attempted to read a comic aloud in my life, it should be interesting. There will be some fab ACT-I-VATErs presenting as well, including Steven’s brother, Dan.
There will be no interpretive dance, I promise.
Be there!

I love panel one on page five (top page). Because you know that girls put their jeans on like that.
There may be an interview next week; I may be taking a break.
Welcome, Steven!

Well, our best intentions continue to get waylaid by life’s angst. Rather than ride it out empty handed, I’ve decided to share “a little something I had on the hard drive” (you know from those, right?) with you.
NIGHT VISIT is a piece that my husband Leland and I put together for the annual SPX anthology last year. It didn’t make the cut, but I’m incredibly fond of it and it’s probably my personal favorite of all my stories so far. Note that I didn’t say “best.” But it’s my favorite, hands down.
We made a limited number of NIGHT VISIT chapbooks for NYCC 2006. They’re almost gone.
“In the British Isles folk song canon, there are songs known as ‘night visiting songs.’ The esteemed precursors to rocks thrown at the window and midnight serenades, they describe one lover coming to the home of another in the middle of the night and on the sly. Always, the threat of discovery (parents, spouses, etc) looms large, and always, always must the visiting lover depart before the cock crows at dawn.
These songs are often gloomy and sad, but I find them to be terribly romantic. Sure, parting sucks, but who doesn’t like lovers coming through the window?
There’s one more thing I should tell you about night visiting songs, but that would give part of the story away.
I wrote this for my younger self.
-EG”

So, Boorman and I were all set to post pages today. And then…
Oh, nevermind.
So, I have an interview. It’s with Barry Lyga, a wonderful new author (with a secret comics identity of sorts) whose young adult novel THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF FANBOY AND GOTH GIRL has just hit the shelves. Alas and alack, I do not want to post an interview. I want to post pages.
So.
Please continue to stand by for pages. And thanks for bearing with us.
