Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits, Page 22

Welcome, my friends, to the 22nd episode of Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

I’m sad to say the strip is going on hiatus as we finish up the graphic novel for publication. With the Kid Houdini graphic novel, Poo Book 2 and another project at Shadowline/Image, my schedule is absolutely insane. And that’s not counting three other books I’m co-writing, college and raising three boys by myself.

Insanity.

I would ask that you PLEASE pre-order the Kid Houdini graphic novel if you have not already done so. You will find it in the new Previews on Page 354. The Diamond Order Code is:

APR08 4171

As you can see, we’re departing on a bit of a cliff-hanger. But… isn’t that appropriate for a good mystery serial?

Thank you for your continued support, my friends! We’ll be back before you know it.

-Dwight L. MacPherson (with Worth Gowell and Kevin Conley)

Welcome to the 20th page of Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

I have a lot going on and several deadlines to meet, so I’ll keep this short.

We thank you for taking the time to read our strip. We really do. I know that I am not the only one with an insanely-busy life, so the fact that you have chosen to take time out to read means a lot to me–to the whole team.

As always, comments are welcome. And please don’t forget to spread the word about our strip. If you enjoy it, tell a friend. Trust me: we will appreciate it immensely!

We welcome you again, faithful readers, to the 19th installment of Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

We thank you for joining us this lovely comic day. In fact, I was just about to leave for the shop when I remembered I hadn’t updated this page yet. Sheesh. That’s what happens when you get older and you’re champing at the bit to get some new comic goodness in your grubby paws.

And then there’s the work… the glorious, inundating work.

Well, speaking of the work, I am happy to say that we are well into the latter half of the graphic novel. Worth continues to turn in page after beautiful page and Kevin has become a bit of a coloring machine. Okay… more than a bit. I simply cannot wait for you to read the graphic novel. The team has worked extremely hard on it, but, more than that… this is a true labor of love and I hope that shows.

All right, I’m off to the shop. Thanks for reading and we’ll see you next week!

Kid Houdini Free Comic Book Day Book!

Posted by DwightMacPherson on Wednesday, March 5 2008 at 9:32 am

Please excuse the interruption in our story, but I wanted to use this opportunity to share more information about Viper Comics’ Free Comic Book Day Book which will feature none other than Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

We are excited to say the book will feature a cover illustration by Jack Lawrence (of “Lions, Tigers and Bears” fame). Jack’s a busy, busy chap, so I’d like to publicly say thank you, Jack, for taking time out to hook a brother up. I owe you one–er–okay, more than one. Cheers, my friend!

As you know, Free Comic Book Day is May 3rd and then, just one month later–in June–Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits Volume 1 will be released! That’s right… JUNE! You heard it here first, my loyal friends! That means the graphic novel will appear in the next issue of Previews! Can you believe it?! I can’t tell you how excited we are about the release of this book! My 12 year-old and 9 year-old are just enthralled with it. Chris Eliopoulos (of Marvel’s “Franklin Richards” fame) had this to say:

“Kid Houdini is a fun all-ages read. How do I know? The enjoyment I got out of it was exceeded only by the enjoyment my two 8-year-olds got. They spent the day after reading it, repeating the name ‘Hans’ over and over and laughing to themselves. A delight!”

Please, my friends… let your shops know about the Free Comic Book Day book and ask them to order it for you. I cannot stress this point strongly enough: it is imperative that you let them know you want it. Retailers are going to order a ton of Marvel’s and DC’s Free Comic Book Day books, I promise you that. But they will not order a book they don’t believe there’s a demand for… that simple. That’s where you come in. Please, let your retailer know you want it–and that you believe it will appeal to a lot of people. Judging from the reaction we’ve received thus far, we believe it will.

With that said, we will disappear for now, but you can rest assured that we will return next week with the continuation of our story. As always, we thank you–our friends–for reading and spreading the word!

Sincerely yours,
Dwight L. MacPherson (with Worth Gowell and Kevin Conley)

As you can see, things are beginning to get a bit interesting. Where are Bea and her mother and what made the mysterious noise? Well, you see…

I can’t tell you. Come on, that would ruin all the fun! Join us next week as our mystery continues to unfold. You won’t be sorry.

As always, we thank you for reading and look forward to your thoughts on this delightful new page. Please… take a moment and let us know. We’d really appreciate it.

Welcome, welcome to the 15th installment of Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

I’m your host… no? Well, fine. Be that way.

We thank you for joining us this week for another brand new page! We also appreciate you spreading the word. Hey, we’ve seen the numbers. Your help is definitely a huge factor–and we thank you for your assistance. We can’t possibly succeed on our own. It is you who make or break us, so we thank you sincerely for your support.

I apologize for cutting this short, but I am off to do some more homework. Yeah, me… the 37 year old guy. Doing homework. It’s just not natural, I tell you.

See you next week!

Welcome one and all to the 14th installment of Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

My buddy Jack Lawrence of “Lions, Tigers and Bears” fame sent a cover illustration for the graphic novel today that absolutely blew me away! Now before you ask “Exactly how many covers do you have already,” let me simply say there is a method to our madness. Please bear with us and we’ll reveal “the plan” as soon as we are able to.

And with that, I need to get back to work. Yikes, that Deadline Monster is a beast–and a ravished beast at that!

Thanks for reading and helping to spread the word. YOU ARE APPRECIATED!
