ChemSet Spirits Now in the Material World

Posted by JamesDougan on Wednesday, January 30 2008 at 12:45 pm

For your consideration:

Ripped from the pages of The Chemistry Set! These books should be coming out in the next few months or so (actual release dates are a bit squishy, I’m afraid):

NEGATIVE BURN #16 (Diamond Code: OCT073437)

Featuring THE GENTLEMAN by Jim Dougan and Umberto Torricelli

Photobucket

Cover by Jordan Raskin

NEGATIVE BURN #17 (Diamond Code: NOV073494)
Featuring OSCAR CHAVEZ, MACHISMO MONITOR by Jim Dougan and Roger Langridge

Photobucket
Cover by Dean Haspiel and Kat Roberts

Ask your local comic shop retailer to save you one, won’t you please? Like I’ve said before: why read something for free on the internet when you can pay for it?

And yes! For the three of you who’ve been wondering, I will have new comics on the ChemSet in 2008. I promise (or threaten, depending on your point of view…)

‘Kare-kare’ is a traditional Filipino dish that incorporates various assorted ingredients into a delicious, meaty stew. ‘Komiks’ is a term for sequential art made in the Philippines, referring to Pinoy mass-produced newsprint comic books. Put these two together and you have Kare-Kare Komiks, the semi-monthly webcomic only The Chemistry Set.

Kare-Kare Komiks is an ongoing collection of self-contained short comics by Andrew Drilon that explores new flavors of the sequential art experience.

Be here in two weeks for our next delicious installment! Kare-Kare Komiks : Filipino-Food-For-Thought! Only on The Chemistry Set.

Maraming salamat!

Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits, Page 14

Posted by DwightMacPherson on Wednesday, January 30 2008 at 1:00 am

Welcome one and all to the 14th installment of Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits!

My buddy Jack Lawrence of “Lions, Tigers and Bears” fame sent a cover illustration for the graphic novel today that absolutely blew me away! Now before you ask “Exactly how many covers do you have already,” let me simply say there is a method to our madness. Please bear with us and we’ll reveal “the plan” as soon as we are able to.

And with that, I need to get back to work. Yikes, that Deadline Monster is a beast–and a ravished beast at that!

Thanks for reading and helping to spread the word. YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

-Dwight L. MacPherson (with Worth Gowell and Kevin Conley)

The Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo: Page 56

Posted by DwightMacPherson on Monday, January 28 2008 at 1:00 am

Welcome to the glorious 56th installment of The Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo!

As you can see, our heroes have been joined by the valiant Bloodclaw of the Ravens. The more the merrier… right? Well–as long as Bloodclaw doesn’t have a taste for crab meat. If that is the case, things could get very ugly… and fast!

Thanks for joining us and continuing to help spread the word. We all sincerely appreciate your continuing efforts!

Until next week,
Dwight L. MacPherson (with Thomas Boatwright and Thomas Mauer)

The Gloom - Week 13

Posted by TonyLee on Friday, January 25 2008 at 6:43 am

Has a week gone past already since our dashing young hero was last seen surrounded by Nazis?

Well actually, yes it is and yes he still is. But fear not, true believers because today’s the day that Daddy brings home the bacon, and the Gloom can finally return fire against the evil Nazi villainy!

Viewers of a sensitive disposition towards chocolate muffins should turn away now….

As you can see, Harry and his friends are about to go adventuring. Will they find Bea’s father? Will they make it back into their cage before Professor Murat discovers they’re missing?

All will be revealed in good time, my friends.

Thank you for reading, and, as always, we thank you for helping to spread the word. We can’t do this without you.
