Kare-Kare Komiks: “Secret Heart”

Posted by AndrewDrilon on Wednesday, October 3 2007 at 12:08 pm

Welcome back to Kare-Kare Komiks!

For today’s offering, we have a melancholy meal marinated with allusions to a classic Filipino superheroine. It’s called “Secret Heart”, and it’s a despondent dish sautéed in the bittersweet essence of emo. Kain na!

I hope you enjoyed this latest entry on the menu.

If you’re interested in the subject of this comic’s homage, I invite you to check out the origin of Darna. It’s not essential to your enjoyment of this story, but if it piqued your interest, Darna’s saga is a spectacularly rich Wunderkammer to explore.

Next Wednesday, I’ll be serving a savory ration of anti-war whimsy. It’s called “Two Tiny Things”, and it’s a short and sweet Suess-ian specialty. Please stop by for your next delicious read!

Maraming salamat!

-Andrew Drilon

There’s that feeling that I kinda get it and I kinda don’t. Delicious ambiguity. Brilliant, Andrew, as always! Oh gosh, I’m gonna be your loyal fan. =)

i do believe reading about the origin of darna first would contribute much to the enjoyment of this story. that aside, please permit me to say: nakakakilabot sa ganda. thank you for this!

First off, I love how the sky is half stars, half static, contributing to the hazy and furious feel of this story.

We give our secret star to those who follow us. Just gorgeous.
