This hurts.
1 Way Ticket will be delayed for one more week, but Dan and I pinky-swear that Chapter Four will begin next Wednesday, March 14th, 2007. We’ve been hemming and hawing over format, serialization and Van Halen for several weeks trying to come up with a new way to do this thing called webcomics. We think we’ve got it. Come back next week and tell us what you think!
Meanwhile, check out this trailer, Maiden of Death, which was made for SXSW film festival’s Grindhouse trailer competition. I’ve watched it about two dozen times , and acts as a good ancillary work to what me and Dan are aiming for with 1 Way Ticket.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at NYCC - it was a great show, and we love making new friends. If you’re down Austin way this weekend at STAPLE, be sure to stop by and see Steve Goldman at the Styx Taxi/ ChemSet table and shake hands with him (or buy him lunch, y’know, whatever). Also, the featured guest is Act-I-Vate guru, all-around gentleman and friend-of-The Chemistry Set Dean Haspiel, so go show him some love.

Like Kevin said…
I’ll be making the ChemSet presence known at STAPLE!, Austin’s answer to APE and SPX, as well as showing off copies of my books STYX TAXI and EVERYMAN. Drop by if you’re in town!

Hey, everyone. Just wanted to make a few administrivia-style announcements regarding my little corner of the Chemistry Set.
First, no SCHEHERAZADE update today. But! Adam is working on the next pages and should have something for a weekend update. Yay!
Second, thanks to everyone who came by the Chemistry Set table at the New York Comic Con this past weekend. Thanks for the tons of love you showered our way – we feel it! And an extra-special shout-out to our own lovely Kevin Colden, who organized the table and kept things running smoothly all weekend.
I know things have been kinda slow on Thursdays. Between quitting my job, spending over a week in Maine (visiting my gorgeous best friend and doing research on my first young adult novel), and getting my freelance writing gigs off the ground, I’ve been a little swamped. Thankfully, I’m settling into a routine now and my activity around here will pick up accordingly. Here are a few of the tricks up my sleeve:
After MARCOS, Adam will be taking a well-earned break from SCHEHERAZADE art detail. Zoe’s next bit, TATTERED COAT, will be drawn by…. an amazing artist I can’t reveal just yet. But oh ho ho… lemme tell you, I’ve seen the thumbnails and… damn, I’m just such a lucky girl. Damn! I love it. You’re gonna love it. I know it.
In addition to the SCHZDE goodness, I have a few stand-alone short stories that will be serialized here on the ‘Set in the coming months. The first of these, BLEEDING HEARTS, diverges slightly from my usual moodiness and into goofy vampire territory. It’ll be drawn by our own Tom Williams. Alas, rest assured, the remaining stand-alones will be moody. I have no sense of humor.
The next From The Library interview will feature – hang on to your suspenders – Mark Waid. Yes! I’m thrilled for a number of reasons, not the least of them being the fact that Mark has taught me more about writing than anyone on the planet, hands down. Other upcoming interviews include Catherynne Valente and Cecil Castellucci (who kindly just agreed to one — huzzah!).
THE CHEMISTRY SET is a collective of comic creators, exploring what happens when they throw their talents together in the cause of fresh, new, unexpected work. Sometimes we get beautiful synthesis. Sometimes we get explosions. But in every case, we get new comics, delivered every day by talented up-and-coming creators, including three Xeric Award winners.
Always free, and just for you.
Be part of the experiment here on THE CHEMISTRY SET.
